The Breath Control Collar grew out of a conversation with an experienced breath-control enthusiast couple who enjoyed choking play but felt limited by the tools they had been using. Hands, ropes, and belts all technically worked, but none offered convenient or consistent control. Many required two hands and often broke the flow of other BDSM play. Small changes in force or positioning could also lead to large, unintended shifts in pressure, making precise control difficult even for experienced users.
They were very clear about what they wanted: a device that could stay on the neck comfortably throughout an entire session, be operated with one hand, and deliver consistent, controllable tightening. Pressure should increase only when the controller intentionally applied it, and release needed to be immediate and predictable. That list quickly became the design brief.
My first instinct was to start with Kinkista’s regular collar as the foundation. From there, the real challenge was designing a choking mechanism that felt deliberate and controlled, rather than improvised.
After several iterations, the couple responded most positively to a design built around an internal steel wire-rope system paired with dedicated control handles. This approach translates direct hand input into smooth, even tightening around the neck. Two control handles—one fixed and one sliding—allow the controller to adjust tension in real time using a single hand, while keeping the other hand free for other forms of BDSM stimulation.
To avoid uncontrolled escalation, I added a sliding track that physically limits how much the wire-rope ring can tighten, ensuring the collar always operates within a defined range. Just as importantly, when pressure on the handles is released, the system immediately returns to its relaxed state, providing instant release without delay.
The final product is shown below.
